Sabrina Broadbent's debut novel Descent won the WH Smith Raw Talent award. Her other novels are A Boy’s Guide to Track and Field and You Don’t Have to be Good, all published by Chatto & Windus. She has co-authored numerous award-winning books for schools and colleges including Writing from Life (Roddy Doyle, Meera Syal, Andrea Ashworth), Three Modern Novels (Toni Morrison, Romesh Gunesekera, Seamus Deane) and Klondyke Kate (non-fiction texts).
An experienced teacher of creative writing at Faber and Arvon, Sabrina is a former Royal Literary Fund fellow at UCL, English teacher, teacher trainer and deputy head at several London comprehensives. Her novels were written alongside the day jobs.
Sabrina’s three-hour sessions are structured so as to give equal weight to the critical and the creative. Group feedback on student work is balanced with input on how novels work and practical writing tasks so that students feel supported, challenged and actively engaged in the writing process.
