
Judith Bryanâs 1998 Saga Prize debut winning novel, Bernard and the Cloth Monkey, was republished in 2021 for Penguinâs Black Britain: Writing Back series, curated by Booker-prize winner Bernardine Evaristo. She is a Hawthornden Fellow and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with over twenty years' experience teaching creative writing. Judithâs fiction and nonfiction appears in magazines and anthologies published by Penguin, Bloomsbury and Peepal Tree, among others. She has an MA in Writing For Performance from Goldsmiths. Her first play, âA Cold Snapâ, was shortlisted for the Alfred Fagon Award. Her latest story is 'De Novo' in Glimpse: Black British speculative fiction (Peepal Tree, Jan 2023). She has two historical novels in progress and is working towards a first collection of short stories.
